The seventh track on Rough and Rowdy Ways, a slow hymn-like invocation of the muse that also salutes Second World War generals.
The words
An aging singer calls on the mother of the muses for inspiration and honours those who fought and marched before him.
Like an ancient poet, the singer opens by calling on the goddess who mothers the muses, asking her to help him sing. He then pays tribute to generals who cleared the way in the Second World War and to figures such as Elvis Presley and Martin Luther King, before turning to his own love for one of the muses and to his sense of age. The tone is solemn, grateful and personal. The music is slow and stately, almost a hymn.
