On a Night Like This

The words

A warm welcome home on a cold winter night.

A man welcomes a lover home on a bitter winter night, delighted that she is back with him. He talks of shutting out the cold, building up the fire, and staying close together while the snow piles up outside. Rather than a story, the song is a single happy moment stretched out, full of easy affection and relief. The Band back him with a loose, rolling sound that feels like a party in a warm room.
