An upbeat song on Shot of Love, with a light, bouncy groove and backing singers.
The words
True love is pure, patient and selfless, quite unlike the weak and grasping imitation people settle for.
The song sets out a portrait of real love in the spirit of the famous passage from Corinthians, describing what it does and does not do. Against this ideal, the refrain dismisses the lesser, compromised love the world offers instead. The tone is cheerful and confident, more like a lesson than a confession. The breezy, almost pop arrangement keeps its moral message light on its feet.
