1998
Album of the Year Grammy for Time Out of Mind
In February 1998 Time Out of Mind won the Grammy for Album of the Year, along with two other awards that night.

Time Out of Mind, made with producer Daniel Lanois, had come out the previous autumn to the strongest reviews he had received in decades. Its release followed closely on a serious illness in 1997, a heart infection that put him in hospital, and the album's dark, weary atmosphere was widely read in that light. Besides Album of the Year it took Best Contemporary Folk Album, and "Cold Irons Bound" won a rock vocal award. The ceremony is also remembered for a stranger moment: during his performance of "Love Sick", a man with words scrawled on his bare chest jumped beside him and danced until he was led away, while Dylan kept playing. The awards confirmed a late-career revival that his next records would build on.
