Co-written with playwright Sam Shepard, it runs past eleven minutes and is framed around the Gregory Peck western The Gunfighter.
The words
A rambling tale of a road trip, an old movie and a lost woman blurs memory and myth.
The narrator recalls watching the Gregory Peck western The Gunfighter and lets the film bleed into his memories of a road trip across Texas with a woman he has since lost. The story drifts between past and present, scenes from the movie and scenes from his own life, until it is hard to tell myth from memory. Wry, rambling and tender, it was co-written with playwright Sam Shepard and runs past eleven minutes, with backing singers answering his lines.
