A traditional sailing ballad, the fourth track on Good as I Been to You, performed with voice and fingerpicked guitar.
The words
A young woman disguises herself as a sailor to cross the sea, and wins a surprising fortune.
A girl dresses as a sailor so she can board a ship bound for Canada. When the crew discovers she is a woman they turn against her, but the captain protects her, and by the end she has married him and settled in the new land. It is a tale of courage and luck told in a long, flowing narrative. Dylan sings it gently over a delicate, ringing guitar part.
