The opening track famously name-checks the singer Alicia Keys.
The words
A rollicking vision of trouble brewing over the land, with the singer ready to ride out the storm.
The singer watches a great disturbance gathering over the country and braces himself to meet it. The verses mix apocalyptic images with wisecracks, boasts and odd asides, so that dread and good humor run side by side. He seems both to welcome the coming upheaval and to stand apart from it. The opening track of Modern Times moves at a brisk, rollicking pace, and it famously name-checks the singer Alicia Keys.
