Here Comes Santa Claus

The words

A cheerful announcement that Santa is on his way down the road with gifts for everyone.

Dylan plays the old holiday standard completely straight, announcing Santa's arrival as if passing on good news to the neighborhood. The verses picture the sleigh, the reindeer and children getting ready for bed, then widen into a note of goodwill that reminds listeners Santa treats everyone alike and that the season has a religious root. His rough, worn voice sits against a bright, old-fashioned arrangement with a warm backing chorus, which gives the cheer an oddly touching sincerity.
